Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>THE United Kingdom sports company, Callaway has donated 25 sets of golf gear to Tanzania Golf Union (TGU) for youth development projects conducted in two golf clubs.<\/p>\n

TGU Vice Chairman David Luoga confirmed to the \u2018Daily News on Saturday\u2019 in Dar es Salaam on Friday that the union has received the gear which is part of the efforts to promote and develop golf through grassroots development programmes.<\/p>\n

Luoga said that the 25 sets of golf gear will be allocated to the Tanzania People\u2019s Defence Forces (TPDF) Lugalo Club of Dar es Salaam and TPC Moshi Club of Kilimanjaro.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are grateful to Callaway for giving us ultra- modern gear for the young golfers\u2019programme, which will help to enhance the sport\u2019s development as the programme relies on the facilities to develop,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Luoga explained the decision to allocate the bags to two clubs is to recognise their efforts in implementing the progamme\u2019s success.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn behalf of TGU, I want to compliment Lugalo and TPC clubs for doing well, we allocate the bags to them to recognise and support their wonderful efforts,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said Lugalo and TPC have been good examples in implementing the junior development programmes that seriously promote and re-develop youthful golfers.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the Lugalo Club chairman, Michael Luwongo has recently said the youth development programmes have taken the country by storm and that in the coming years Tanzania would have top talents in the international scene.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are gallantly marching to the right direction in the junior programmes, we have many talented youth who are going to do wonders in a few years to come if they are given maximum support,\u201d he Luwongo.<\/p>\n

He added the youth played brilliantly in the recently staged Tanzania Amateur Stroke Play competition held at TPC course.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Elibariki Masuke, the NBC Bank Retail Director announced the bank’s sponsorship of the ongoing Tanzania Open Golf Championship that started yesterday at Lugalo saying they are ready to support the efforts that have been put in place to develop the game.<\/p>\n

He said NBC will be at the forefront of creating a better golf generation which will bring glory and happiness to the country.<\/p>\n

Masuke said the Chief Defense Forces (CDF) Venance Mabeyo, who is the Lugalo course Patron, has done a wonderful job in pushing for the junior golf development programme.<\/p>\n
