Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>GOVERNMENT Accountant General Leonard Mkude has underlined importance of higher learning institutions to produce proficient accountants in order to address problem of losing public fund<\/p>\n

Mr Mkude on behalf of the Minister for Finance and Planning, Dr Mwigulu Nchemba made remarks over the weekend, while gracing the 19th graduation of the Tanzania Institute of Accountancy (TIA) in Dar es Salaam.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have to get rid of evil acts such as corruption and embezzlement. These acts affect the country\u2019s fate and may destroy your future as well,\u201d he counseled graduates.<\/p>\n

Apart from commending the TIA for improving courses offered and infrastructures, the Accountant General advised the TIA to put more focus on researches.<\/p>\n

He urged the graduates to pursue further education while in employment in order to align themselves with speed of development.<\/p>\n

Mr Mkude told the graduates that they should not relax with the level of education they have reached.<\/p>\n

\u201cI ask you (graduates) that the education you have got has to be tool for employment and be creative in order to excel in the current competitive job market,\u201d he said, insisting them that they should think of employing themselves due to current challenge of unemployment.<\/p>\n

On her part, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the TIA, Dr Momole Kasambala, said the graduation in Dar es Salaam was for graduates in Dar es Salaam and Mtwara Campuses where a total of 7131 have graduated this year in different courses.<\/p>\n

Dr Kasambala noted that the institute has made achievements in increasing the number of graduates from 4800 in 2016 upon expansion of the institute whereby new buildings were built.<\/p>\n

She promised that the institute would continue improving curricular in making sure that it prepares graduates as per the needs of the job market and the nation.<\/p>\n

Commenting, chairperson of the institute\u2019s advisory board, Said Chiguma pointed out that their graduates have been performing well in their employments.<\/p>\n

He urged the graduates to be good ambassadors of the institute wherever they go and adhere to their professional ethics.<\/p>\n
