Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>TANZANIA and China are on course to further deepen bilateral cooperation in infrastructure, health, trade, investment education and agriculture for a future prosperity of their long standing relations.<\/p>\n

This was said yesterday by the Ambassador of China to Tanzania, Chen Mingjian during a media brief on the Eighth Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation FOCAC held in Dakar Senegal, late last month.<\/p>\n

Held from November 29-30, the conference coincided with the 65th anniversary of the start of diplomatic relations between China and African countries.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe look forward to deepening cooperation in agriculture through investment in agro-technology as well as technological exchange,\u201d the ambassador explained, noting that China and Tanzania have been enjoying a cordial relations for a long time.<\/p>\n

Chinese President\u2019s visit to Tanzania in 2013 was very important as it resulted to improvement of the bilateral relation in the areas of diplomatic relations, infrastructure, economic, industrialization, energy and agriculture sector.<\/p>\n

Also China is the largest investor in industrial sector and Chinese companies are undertaking a number of development projects including Standard Gauge Railway and the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Power Project (JNHPP).<\/p>\n

During the recent Eighth Ministerial Conference of the FOCAC the two countries held cordial talks and had in-depth exchanges.<\/p>\n

They agreed to follow the guidance of the important consensus reached by the two heads of state during their phone conversation last June, and take the opportunity of the Eighth Ministerial Conference of the FOCAC to further deepen bilateral cooperation in infrastructure, health, trade and investment, and other fields.<\/p>\n

In a statement published on the official blog of the Tanzania\u2019s Foreign Affairs Ministry, Minister for the docket, Amb Liberata Mulamula said the FOCAC\u2019s Eighth Ministerial Conference was a great success and the direction pointed out by President Xi Jinping, the commitments announced and the measures proposed were commendable.<\/p>\n

President Xi attended the opening ceremony via video link and made a keynote speech in which he spoke highly of the unbreakable fraternity forged by China and Africa over the past 65 years since the start of their diplomatic relations, and drew a new blueprint for China-Africa cooperation based on once-in-a-century changes and a pandemic globally with the purpose of benefiting Chinese and African people as well as safeguarding the common interests of developing countries.<\/p>\n

He put forward the spirit of China-Africa friendship and cooperation featuring sincere friendship and equality, win-win for mutual benefit and common development, fairness and justice, and progress with the times and openness and inclusiveness, which answered the important question \u201cwhy do China and Africa have such a close relationship and so deep a bond of friendship\u201d.<\/p>\n

The spirit of China-Africa friendship and cooperation is the first systematic summarization of the essential features and conspicuous advantages of China-Africa relations, which manifests the strategic nature, superiority and inclusiveness of China-Africa cooperation.<\/p>\n

He made four proposals for building a China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era, including fighting COVID-19 with solidarity, deepening practical cooperation, promoting green development, and upholding equity and justice.<\/p>\n

These policy proposals reflect the common aspirations of China and Africa, clarify the urgent matters, the fundamental path and the objectives of building a China-Africa community of a shared future in the new era, and point out the direction for future development of China-Africa relations.<\/p>\n

President Xi announced the \u201cnine programs\u201d to be implemented jointly by China and Africa in the next three years, which cover such areas as healthcare, poverty reduction and agricultural development, trade promotion, investment promotion, digital innovation, green development, capacity building, cultural and people-to-people exchange, and peace and security.<\/p>\n

In addition, China will take more measures to support Africa in capacity building and people-to-people and cultural exchanges.<\/p>\n

These concrete and important measures meet the most pressing development needs of African countries, and are in line with the trend of international development cooperation.<\/p>\n

They are a strong demonstration of China\u2019s ever-vigorous support to Africa and the continued momentum of China-Africa cooperation, which will give fresh impetus to Africa\u2019s post-pandemic economic recovery, according to President Xi.<\/p>\n
