Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>IN celebrating its 60th independence anniversary, Tanzania has tapped the occasion to market agricultural good to the United States (US).<\/p>\n

In an agricultural trade conference that was hosted virtually by the Tanzania Government through its Embassy in Washington DC, it was also meant to mark 60th anniversary of the relationship between Tanzania and the US.<\/p>\n

Participants of the conference that was organized in collaboration with the Southern Agricultural Growth Corridor of Tanzania (SAGCOT), Agricultural Council of Tanzania (ACT), Sister Cities International and Thunderbird School of Global Management discussed how to strengthen sale of agricultural goods from Tanzania to the US.<\/p>\n

The symposium brought together members from the Tanzania and the US governments, businesspersons and other agricultural stakeholders from the two countries as well as financial institutions.<\/p>\n

The Minister for Agriculture, Professor Adolf Mkenda and Helena-West, Arkansas Mayor, Mr Kevin Smith also attended and spoke during the conference. Members discussed different opportunities in Tanzania agricultural produce trade, with crops such as avocadoes, fish, honey, cacao, rice, wine, pyrethrum, sesame and sea products were discussed.<\/p>\n

Prof Mkenda who spoke of concerted efforts that have been taken by the Government of Tanzania to improve the sector and increase exports, also discussed some challenges in the sector and opportunities available in investments, calling on Americans to tap the investment opportunities in the country.<\/p>\n

Mayor Smith, on his part, unveiled that his county seat that is the largest city within Phillips County, Arkansa grows rice in abundance and it is ready to cooperate with Tanzania in business of the crop.<\/p>\n

Tanzania Ambassador in the US, Dr Elsie Kanza said the conference was just beginning of many other such conferences, as the Embassy is committed to strengthen sales of different goods from Tanzania in the US, especially agricultural ones.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Kanza pledged that the Embassy will offer full cooperation to investors or businesspersons who are willing to invest in Tanzania or do business here.<\/p>\n
