Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>THE ministry of state in the Vice President\u2019s Office (Union and Environment) has unveiled a work plan for its ambitious campaign for conservation and cleaning environment which seeks to strengthen public education and facilitating public participation and accountability among responsible authorities.<\/p>\n

The ministry has also presented the guideline for national awards for conservation and management of environment to a special committee for the campaign.<\/p>\n

Ministry\u2019s Deputy Permanent Secretary, Mr Mohammed Khamisi Abdulla, who spoke on behalf of the minister for the portfolio, SelemaniJafo, presented the work plan for the campaign on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The campaign was launched by the Vice President Dr Philip Mpango on last Sunday.<\/p>\n

The launching had a theme which emphasized on conserving the environment and enhancing patriotism.<\/p>\n

Chairman of the committee, Seif Ally Seif, emphasized on a proper review of the priorities so as to ensure they reach a common agreement throughout the implementation.<\/p>\n

The meeting highlighted different areas for focus while implementing the campaign which in general based on sanitation, preserving water sources, progressive industrial production, utilization of alternative energy, climate change ,progressive agriculture and animal husbandry, fishery, progressive mining , tree planting and conservation together with control of invasive organisms.<\/p>\n

The implementation will be backed up by work plan of improving society\u2019s and stakeholder\u2019s knowledge on sanitation and conservation of environment through major forms of media and social gatherings.<\/p>\n

Also, through encouraging the society to engage in sanitation using prominent figures and statement of the leaders and different competitions, together with emphasizing on the use of friendly technology through research exhibitions,discoveries and platforms for environmental stakeholders\u2019 workshop.<\/p>\n

The major aim of this ambitious campaign is to accentuate accountability and participation of the people in beefing up efforts for improving environment conservation and social welfare to contribute on progressive development.<\/p>\n

With the specific objectives of improving understanding and participation of the society in protection and conservation of environment increasing creativity in the technology employed to strengthen sanitation and conservation of the environment.<\/p>\n

The implementation of these objectives and the work plan is expected to improve the state of every priority highlighted by the ministry.<\/p>\n

The campaign is a result of the environmental pollution 2019 report which revealed that 63 per cent of the land has been polluted as deforestation has largely contributed to 469,420 hectares of land loss per year.<\/p>\n

Therefore, this campaign is expected to increase the number of participants in conserving the environment and improving sanitation for the welfare of the society and rescuing the nation from the calamities that emerge as a result of poor conservation of environment such as the recent decrease of water sources depth the affected the power and water supply within the nation.<\/p>\n
