The programme is implemented in collaboration between the Council and &#8216;Mwanamke Imara&#8217; project.<\/p>\n<p>Rungwe District Community Development Officer (DCDO) Omari Mungi told reporters here recently that before the launching of &#8216;Mwanamke Imara&#8217; project in the district coordinating women to work in groups was difficult but the situation changed as more sensitisation efforts were made.<\/p>\n<p>The project is implemented by four organisations which are Tanzania Women Lawyers Association (TAWLA), Tanzania Network of Legal Aid Providers (TANLAP), Kilimanjaro Women Information Exchange and Community Organisation (KWIECO) and Women in Law and Development in Africa (WILDAF) in collaboration with three district councils in the three regions of Mbeya, Njombe and Kilimanjaro.<\/p>\n<p>The programme is implemented under the funding of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).One of objectives of the project is to empower women and youth economically.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Mungi said that through the project the women have been receiving different training on entrepreneurship skills, enabling them to expand their businesses.<\/p>\n<p>Giving an example, he said 40 groups of women are now engaging cattle keeping, including milk selling.<\/p>\n<p>According to Mr Mungi, in the first quarter of financial year 2021\/22 already loans worth 215m\/- were released to groups of women, youth and the disabled with 110m\/- going to women groups.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, women and youth at Ndala Village in Busokelo district have also reported to benefit from &#8216;Mwanamke Imara&#8217; project according to Village Executive Officer (VEO) Anna Tenga.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Before launching the project in our village this year, we had no women and youth development groups which were applying and receiving loans from the District Council but after carrying out sensitisation sessions on the importance of forming groups, four women groups have been formed and already three of them have been registered,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>According to Ms Tenga, one youth group has also been formed and has already applied for loan from the District Council.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/tanzania\">Tanzania<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Tanzania.
