Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>DOMINANT Young Africans eased into the next round of the Azam SportS Federation Cup (ASFC) after thrashing hapless visitors Ihefu FC 4-0 at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Nasreddine Nabi opted for his strongest line-up against their First Division League opponents, Ihefu and had it easy as they comfortably sailed through to fourth round of the Cup competition.<\/p>\n

The Premier League giants were 3-0 up at the break after a dominant first half featuring two Heritier Makambo\u2019s goals and Khalid Aucho\u2019s first ever goal for the Jangwani Street outfit.<\/p>\n

Makambo opened the scoring six minutes into the game with a powerful header following a corner kick taken by David Bryson.<\/p>\n

He tapped home the second from a close range, finishing off an inviting cross into the box by wingback Djuma Shaaban midway the first half.<\/p>\n

Ugandan midfielder Aucho slotted home the third goal just before the breather.<\/p>\n

The 2021 ASFC finalists Yanga had the game done and dusted after the 65th minute when Makambo completed a hat-trick to make it 4-0 for Nabi\u2019s charges.<\/p>\n

In the second half, Ihefu did im- prove marginally after the interval, but could not unlock Yanga\u2019s tight defense, well-marshalled by Yanick Bangala and Bakari Mwamnyeto, who would later on be replaced by Abdallah Shaibu.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, in an earlier match played at Azam Complex KMC trounced Majimaji of Songea 4-1 to seal passage to the fourth round of Azam Sports Federation Cup with Iddi Kipwagile notching a hat-trick, with Cliff Buyoya also on the scoresheet.<\/p>\n

Majimaji scored their consolation goal through Jeston Method in the 78th minute.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, holders Simba have maintained that their target is to defend the title once more this season.<\/p>\n

The defending champions produced a slim 1-0 win over JKT Tanzania at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday to begin their title defence with flying colours.<\/p>\n

Striker Kibu Denis scored the solitary goal of the day which was enough to see the Msimbazi Street Reds advance and are waiting for which side will come on their way when the next draw is held.<\/p>\n

In his words after the match, the club’s chairman Murtaza Mangungu revealed that winning the game assured them to implement their objec- tive of retaining the ASFC silverware.<\/p>\n

“As a club, our mission this season is to defend all the titles we won last season and ASFC is one of them.<\/p>\n

We are now looking forward for the next opponent,” said Mangungu.<\/p>\n

He also pointed out that soon, they will declare mechanisms on what Simba members and fans ought to do in order to fulfill the desire of the club to construct own stadium.<\/p>\n

“Our former chairman Mohamed Dewji ‘Mo’ has shown the way for- ward to enable the process of stadium construction be achieved that is why we are determined to create a good system on how Simba family can contribute for the project,” said him.<\/p>\n

Already, Mo pledged to contribute 2bn\/- as a contribution for the stadium construction of which Mangungu dis- closed that it will have the capacity to accommodate not less than 30,000<\/p>\n
