Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>THE Tanzania Centre for Democracy (TCD) and Tanzania Political Parties Council (TPPC) have expressed their satisfaction over the country\u2019s trend of politics.<\/p>\n

TPPC Chairman Mr Juma Ali Khatibu and the Chairman of TCD Mr Zitto Kabwe both acknowledged President Samia Suluhu Hassan\u2019s participation at the political stakeholders\u2019 meeting yesterday, saying it showed how her government valued the multiparty system.<\/p>\n

The three-day meeting taking place in Dodoma, was the first of its kind since President Samia stepped into power in March, this year, and is meant to discuss the state of the country\u2019s multiparty democracy.<\/p>\n

Mr Khatibu observed that the stakeholders\u2019 meeting intended to bring together all stakeholders of democracy to identify existing challenges and propose best ways to run the country\u2019s political affairs without causing any conflicts.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour presence here is an indication that the government you lead values the multi-party system in Tanzania.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe council acknowledges the great work you have been doing, specifically the close contacts you have been establishing with your counterparts from across the globe,\u201d remarked Mr Khatibu.<\/p>\n

He maintained that the President\u2019s initiative has further opened up Tanzania and strengthened its foreign diplomacy.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s our prayer that this meeting will not be the last, we are ready and willing to collaborate with you at any time in the interest of our nation by embarking on clean politics. Mr Kabwe indicated that the meeting was an important step towards a political dialogue in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything has a starting point, to me this is a good start to discuss and resolve our challenges for the betterment of all Tanzanians,\u201d said Mr Kabwe.. Kabwe, who is a leader of the opposition ACT-Wazalendo party, pleaded with President Samia to continue unifying the nation, expressing optimism on her ability to bring political parties together and create a political consensus.<\/p>\n

The Minister of State in the Prime Minister\u2019s Office (Parliament, Policy Coordination, Labour and Employment, Youth and Disabled), Ms Jenista Mhagama, disclosed that since President Samia assumed office in the past few months, the democratic situation has reciprocated to the national welfare in various sectors including health services, infrastructure, education, agriculture, investment and many others.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe country has witnessed heighted democratic relations… Tanzanians have witnessed that you have done justice in this area.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe work of building democracy in the country is also in line with the political will; where such will does not exist it becomes difficult to embark on the process,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Ms Mhagama added: \u201cBy your presence here today, it clearly demonstrates to the country your thirst of realising national unity, solidarity, peace and stability for the development of all Tanzanians.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOur responsibility is to uphold the policies that guide the democratic process and the prosperity of political parties in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will do this work with great humility, considering the presence of these political party leaders for the welfare of our nation,\u201d stressed the minister.<\/p>\n
