Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>AFTER reshuffling the technical bench, Azam believe that they have assembled enough resources to end Mbeya City’s unbeaten run of the season in their match at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam today.<\/p>\n

The Chamazi-based giants recently went separate ways with the former Head Coach George Lwandamina and his right hand man Vivian Bahati following a chain of unconvincing results in the ongoing league.<\/p>\n

From their eight-game outings, Azam have pocketed 11 points after posting three wins, two draws and three losses and they are trailing the league leaders Young Africans by 9 points.<\/p>\n

Basing on the weight of investment they did in the squad this season, Azam deserved to be among the top three teams competing for the first slot but that is not the case as they have been struggling to win matches.<\/p>\n

However, their first game without Lwandamina in charge was a 4-0 thrashing of Green Warriors in the third round of Azam Sports Federation Cup (ASFC) which helped to give them confidence prior to their today’s late kickoff.<\/p>\n

Speaking recently, the club’s interim coach Mohamed Badru conceded that players were not fit mentally and physically hence they have already started working on the two aspects to improve the squad.<\/p>\n

“Slowly, confidence has returned to players and this is a good thing for the team’s survival. We are thankful to God for enabling us to win the ASFC match and we are now looking forward to the next league match against Mbeya City,” he said.<\/p>\n

Lwandamina joined Azam in 2020 replacing then Head Coach Aristica Cioaba who was also fired following poor performance by the club under his tutelage.<\/p>\n

The Zambian guided Azam in 38 matches, 30 of whom being the Premier league duels, four were ASFC games and other four fixtures CAF Confederation Cup games where they failed to cruise into the group stage after suffering a 1-0 loss to Pyramids of Egypt.<\/p>\n

He managed to steer them to the top- three finish on the league table last season and also drove the team into the semifinals of the ASFC where they got eliminated by the current holders Simba.<\/p>\n

Undoubtedly, Azam are among the top clubs in the country which enjoy heavy investment both on and off the pitch.<\/p>\n
