Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>SIMBA have a chance to ascend to the top of the NBC Premier League table if they manage to subdue Kagera Sugar at Kaitaba Stadium in Kagera today.<\/p>\n

The puzzling fixture will be Simba’s ninth round of the season as they currently sit second on the table with 18 points and still enjoy the unbeaten status in the marathon.<\/p>\n

They go into the game with full confidence despite being held to a barren draw with their traditional rivals Young Africans during the recently played Dar es Salaam derby at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in the city.<\/p>\n

It was the third draw for the defending champions this season as such; they will try to play with big determination to get back to winning ways at the unpredictable away artificial venue.<\/p>\n

At a pre-match meeting yesterday, Simba Assistant Coach Selemani Matola disclosed that third of the players in the camp are not hundred per cent fit as they have fever and coughs saying doctors are closely monitoring the situation.<\/p>\n

He also added that facing Kagera Sugar is always a difficult game for them but he insisted that they will try to play their part to emerge winners on the day.<\/p>\n

Today’s encounter will be Pablo Franco’s fourth Premier League match at the helm of the Msimbazi street giants. He has managed two wins and one draw which is a good start for the Spaniard.<\/p>\n

He is yet to get used to the league as he barely has first season in the contest and this happens to be his first time to coach in Africa hence; he needs more time to understand the lyrics of the country’s domestic league.<\/p>\n

Guiding Simba into the CAF Confederation Cup group stage has become his great achievement at the Reds as he aims to accomplish the other remaining two targets of the club which are to retain the premier league and Azam Sports Federation Cup (ASFC) titles. So far, he seems to be enjoying his reign at the club with full backing from Selemani Matola and Thierry Hitimana who are his assistants and they have vast experience of the domestic league.<\/p>\n

For the hosts, they will try to become the first side to upset Simba this term even though they are fully aware that the encounter will be tough and that normal period of play will provide the fair verdict to either team.<\/p>\n

Under the mentorship of Francis Baraza, the Kagera-based outfits have had a good ride so far no wonder they have produced two wins and three draws which is not that bad.<\/p>\n

Their recent barren draw with Azam at Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam, gave coach Baraza a breathing space prior to today’s big match and he has already challenged his charges to triple their preparations.<\/p>\n

They have since accumulated 9 points from eight games and they need to step up the fight to continue climbing up the ladder as the trip towards the Championship continues to put on new face game after game.<\/p>\n
