Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>THE Third Turkey-Africa Partnership Summit concluded in Istanbul on Saturday, with heads of state and other representatives focusing their key discussions on better ways of cementing relations between the two parties, especially in issues related to defense, security and good governance.<\/p>\n

Their discussion also focused on strengthening cooperation in infrastructure, agriculture, industry, trade, investment, education, technical training, and youth and women development.<\/p>\n

The summit which started on Friday themed \u2018Enhanced Partnership for Development and Prosperity\u2019 which brought together 16 heads of state and government and 30 foreign affairs ministers was led by DR Congo President Felix Tshisekedi who is the Chairperson of the African Union, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan<\/p>\n

The leaders endorsed various documents, including the Africa-Turkey Partnership Joint Implementation Report of 2015- 2020); the Africa-Turkey Joint Action Plan of 2022 2026) and the Ankara Declaration of 2021.<\/p>\n

A statement issued on Thursday by the directorate of communication of the Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation said the meeting which was introduced in 2008 aimed at, among other things, following up on implementation of agreements and various decisions endorsed by Heads of State in the previous summits and put in place new strategies for partnership for the period between 2021-2026.<\/p>\n

The Tanzanian delegation was led by Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Liberata Mulamula, who represented President Samia Suluhu Hassan.<\/p>\n

Other officials in the Tanzanian delegation include Deputy Minister for Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children, Dr Godwin Mollel, Tanzania\u2019s Ambassador to Turkey, Lt Gen Yacoub Hassan Mohamed and Director, Africa Department Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Naimi Aziz.<\/p>\n

Others are Tanzania\u2019s Ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union (AU) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), Mr Innocent Shiyo and other senior government officials.<\/p>\n
