Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>MOROGORO Urban Member of Parliament, Mr Abdulaziz Abood has commended President Samia Suluhu Hassan for coming up with a strategic plan to improve various sectors and providing 1.3bn\/- to Morogoro Municipality through the Covid-19 relief package to construct classrooms.<\/p>\n

He said the amount released to the municipality has facilitated construction of 86 classrooms in 20 public schools and put in place new six secondary schools.<\/p>\n

The MP made the remarks on Friday during his tour to inspect the progress of construction of the classrooms and building of new schools in Morogoro municipality. He said construction of the classrooms will help to reduce inconveniences, especially to form one students who start classes in January.<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst of all, I congratulate President Samia because she has done a great thing, for me as a Member of Parliament for the third term I have never seen anything like this before,\u201d Mr Abood said. Abood appealed to teachers, classrooms and project management committees and street and ward leaders to ensure proper management of the funds.<\/p>\n

\u201cI urge all those in charge of these projects to be careful with the use of funds set aside for construction of the classrooms, because they are highly monitored,\u201d said Mr Abood.<\/p>\n

He also asked school head teachers and construction committees to ensure that they supervise the contractors so as to accomplish the work this month and handover the buildings for use.<\/p>\n

Morogoro Municipal Education Officer, Mr Jaribu Malambughi, said the municipality received 1.3bn\/- for construction of 86 classrooms, noting that before construction of the classrooms there was a serious deficit.<\/p>\n

Mr Malambughi said the y expects to receive 8,292 form one students who need 163 classrooms and before the 86 were built, the existing classrooms were 124. \u201cWith the construction of 86 classrooms the shortage has been addressed,\u201d said Mr Malambughi.<\/p>\n

He noted that the names of the form one students have been announced and urged parents to prepare their children for going to school in January, adding that there will be no contributions.<\/p>\n

Tubuyu Secondary School Head Teacher, Ms Sarah Madabi thanked the president for facilitating construction of the classrooms. Her school received 40m\/- for construction of two classrooms.<\/p>\n
