Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>AS Tanzanian Christians today join their colleagues around the globe to celebrate Christmas-the birth of Jesus Christ- President Samia Suluhu Hassan has called for peace and tranquility in this festival season.<\/p>\n

In her Christmas message shared by the Directorate of Presidential Communications on Friday, President Samia also called upon Tanzanians to uphold unity in the coming year 2022 so that it can be another period of remarkable achievements for the country and its people.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wish all Tanzanians Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, we should celebrate with joy, peace, and tranquility…lets continue to maintain our unity in the coming year so that we can achieve further progress,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s Christmas will be marked at the national level in Kondoa District, Dodoma region carrying the message of peace, love and the need for humans to preserve the environment for the world to become a better and safer place for people to live in. Christmas Eve service took place at St Paul Anglican Church of Kondoa, in Dodoma region yesterday from 9pm under the coordination of Christian Council of Tanzania (CCT).<\/p>\n

It was led by Bishop Dr Given Gauli who is the Bishop of the Anglican Church of Tanzania, Kondoa Diocese. According to the Director of the Communications Directorate of Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC), who also serves as Deputy Secretary General of the Bishops\u2019 Conference, Rev Father Chesco Msaga, the holy mass for the national service today will be held in Kondoa District with the message stressing on unity, love and peace.<\/p>\n

The information availed to the \u2018Daily News\u2019 stated that the Christmas holy mass at national level will be held at Kondoa Holy Spirit Cathedral.Christmas is a religious and cultural celebration during which billions of Christians around the world commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n

It also offers a unique opportunity for Christians to spend extra time together as a family, reconnect with their spouse, and create lasting holiday memories. Usually, many people take time off from work just to ensure that they spend more quality time with their family members and relatives at home on this special day that is marked every December 25 of the year.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Police in Dar es Salaam have intensified security in different parts of the region to ensure serenity during this festival season. The Regional Police Commissioner Jumanne Muliro told reporters that Police Force is well prepared to counter any acts that may disrupt peace during Christmas and New Year celebrations.<\/p>\n

He called upon Dar es Salaam residents to cooperate with the force by revealing any suspicious acts that may lead to breach of peace during this festival season.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople should keep cooperating with police by reporting individuals with malicious intentions to help the force control acts that may disrupt peace during festival season,\u201d Muliro said. He added: \u201cWe insist people not to burn tyres on streets or use any kind of explosives or fireworks during the festivities unless they have been authorised by the police department or police inspector.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is normal for people to attend prayers on holidays but we urge them not to leave their houses unguarded for safety of their property. The Police also cautioned reckless drivers, especially those who drive while drunk and road users to abide by traffic laws and safety regulations.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, police have arrested 61 suspects in a special operation conducted between December 1 and 22nd this year. Muliro said that among the suspects seven were alleged to have stolen electronic devices while 22 were found with 22 sets of television hidden in Kibiti, Coast region.<\/p>\n

Also other seven suspects were associated with robbery using fake firearms at Banana, Mongo la ndenge, Mabwepande and other nearby areas in Dar es salaam. Another group of three people was allegedly involved in burglary after breaking into a godown. They were also found with coins worth 1m\/- they robbed from various shops. Police also arrested eight suspects for involvement in car theft and drug trafficking.<\/p>\n
