Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>ZANZIBAR President Dr Hussein Mwinyi has assured that the government will observe public interest in the execution of an investment project at Kizingo area in Unguja\u2019s Urban West region.<\/p>\n

Speaking to reporters upon his arrival at Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (AAKIA) on Wednesday night from his three-day state visit in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), President Mwinyi said the government highly values human activities, including fishing, at the area.<\/p>\n

He said the government will ensure that the area is developed in the best manner with the aim of providing the citizens with sports facilities, jobs and training as with other areas, where similar investments are being executed.<\/p>\n

Besides the Kizingo project, President Mwinyi explained, the investor will develop another six-star facility at Unguja North region\u2019s Matemwe suburb, with further interest in acquiring one of the islets, which the government is advertising for leasing out for high-earned tourism projects.<\/p>\n

The president said through his visit, some big companies have expressed interest to invest in the isles especially in five sectors, including construction of Mangapwani port being top in priority.<\/p>\n

He said the prospective investors are expected in fish processing factories, which will as well encourage fish farming. Other investors are expected in the construction of conference facilities, which will attract more visitors, said Dr Mwinyi.<\/p>\n

President Mwinyi said he had used the visit opportunity to remind the public of their previous pledges on the construction of Pemba\u2019s Wete hospital, Fumba-Kisauni road and the 10 million US dollar (over 23bn\/-) empowerment fund to the youth, with the Abu Dhabi administration reaffirming to soon honour the promises.<\/p>\n

The president further explained that the Abu Dhabi government has agreed to restore direct air flights, which were previously performed by Fly Dubai and Emirates airlines to Zanzibar.<\/p>\n

The decision follows Zanzibar commitment to start using the most appropriate Covid-19 testing measures. President Mwinyi expressed optimism on his visit, saying it will open more doors for investment flows in Zanzibar.<\/p>\n

The government has offered a plot for construction of UAE Embassy sub-office in the islands to ease the investment operations and other diplomatic duties, said the isles leader. He said his administration will continually create conducive environment for investors, ensuring that their operations in the islands are hindrance free.<\/p>\n

During the visit, President Mwinyi witnessed the contract signing for big investment projects between Zanzibar government and UAE\u2019s Eagle Hills Regional Properties.<\/p>\n
