Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa issued a two-week ultimatum to the Medical Stores Department (MSD) effective from on Sunday to ensure all equipment needed in the delivery of health services in Manyara Region reach the facilities after payments are met.<\/p>\n

Mr Majaliwa issued the directive after inspecting the Mogitu Health Centre in Hanang\u2019 District as part of his working tour to inspect development projects being executed by the government in Manyara Region, on Sunday.<\/p>\n

\u201cPresident Samia Suluhu Hassan has made it clear that she wants all health facilities immediately after their constructions to start offering services, therefore MSD needs to ensure all the equipment are immediately dispatched to the centres.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter the buildings are completed, we want to see all the required services being offered there\u2026failure to this, the buildings will become dilapidated,\u201d said Mr Majaliwa.<\/p>\n

The Premier expressed the government\u2019s commitment to continue improving health service delivery in the country, noting that the completion of the Mogitu Health Centre will bring services closer to the people, as well as relieve them from the hustle of walking long distances to access the crucial medical services at Katesh Ward.<\/p>\n

Equally, he directed the Chief Medical Officer of Hanang District Dr Boniface Manditi to ensure the delivery of the equipment was fast-tracked for people to start benefiting with the services.<\/p>\n

For his part, Dr Manditi observed that the health facility was executed at cost of 578,926,000\/- where 400m\/- was disbursed by the central government and over 125.7m\/- from Hanang\u2019 Council and a sum of 53.2m\/- being the citizens\u2019 contributions.<\/p>\n

Elaborating, he assured the PM that from today, the health facility will start offering medical services, adding that the centre is anticipated to attend to a total of 11,725 people from three villages in Mogitu Ward namely Mogitu, Gabadaw and Gidagamowd as well as other neighbouring locations.<\/p>\n

The Chief Medical Officer, however, noted that the project is currently in its final stages, including the completion of clean water and sewerage systems.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Mr Majaliwa reiterated President Samia\u2019s statement issued during the Cultural Festival held in Kilimanjaro on Saturday calling up Tanzanians to make proper use of the available food as well as utilising the just-started rains to cultivate short-term crops.<\/p>\n

The PM noted that since the rainy seasons have been delayed, people should take advantage of the on-going rains to grow short-term crops.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe should try as much to save the available food as well as refrain from social gatherings, which demand consumption of large amounts of food in order to maintain enough food reserves\u2026food vendors should devise a good strategy of selling,\u201d noted the PM.<\/p>\n

In another development, the Premier laid a foundation stone for the construction of Mogitu-Katesh water project valued at 2.4bn\/- with a capacity of producing 2.5 litres per day against 2.4 litres being the daily demand.<\/p>\n

The PM disclosed that the implementation of the various water projects within the country is in line with the government\u2019s strategy to relieve women from carrying buckets on their heads, urging the leaders who were overseeing the execution of the projects to ensure the goals are met and the citizens get access to the crucial service.<\/p>\n
