Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>BISHOP Charles Gadi of the Good News For All Ministry has led other Christian denominations in rain prayers in the drought-hit district.<\/p>\n

The divine intervention follows a dry spell witnessed in the area which has seen deaths of cattle and goats.<\/p>\n

At least 62, 583 livestock are reported to have succumbed to drought in Manyara region.<\/p>\n

Leading the prayers, Bishop Gadi urged the denominations to seek God\u2019s intervention as some parts of the country continue getting ravaged by serious drought.<\/p>\n

\u201cClimate change is undoubtedly proving to be real, it is there for everyone to see\u2026it is at this stage where we only count on God\u2019s intervention,\u201d explained Dr Gadi recently.<\/p>\n

The cleric further appealed to Tanzanians to pray to God for the prolonged drought to end. He insisted that it was important that all Tanzanians to unite and humble themselves before God.<\/p>\n

According to the Bishop, the prolonged dry spell was not ordinary, a situation that required spiritual intervention.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith humility and great reverence we, the people, must unite as we ask the maker of rains to open the heavens and pour out the rains,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

While gracing the public Cultural Festival in Kilimanjaro on Saturday, President Samia Suluhu Hassan called for nationwide prayers for ample rain this harvest season.<\/p>\n

Speaking during his tour of Simanjiro last week, Deputy Minister for Livestock and Fisheries Development, Mr Abdallah Ulega, said the government was aware of the ongoing deaths of livestock, saying it was taking steps to contain the situation.<\/p>\n

He said the government had allocated 130bn\/- for the construction of livestock sector\u2019s infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Area MP Christopher Ole Sendeka, said the drought has forced some livestock keepers to graze their animals in neighbouring countries.<\/p>\n

In Tanzania, drought condition is observed more frequently in the northern and central portion of the country.<\/p>\n

Droughts are one of the most serious threats to water availability, food security, and local livelihoods in the semi-arid areas of Tanzania.<\/p>\n
