TWO people died on the spot at Mutukula village, in Missenyi district after a vehicle, Toyota car they were travelling in veered off the road and overturned.<\/p>\n
Kagera Regional Police Commander (RPC) Revocatus Malimi identified the deceased as Geofrey Josephat (35) and Miraji Bashiru (24), both residents of Ngara District.<\/p>\n
He said the accident happened on Monday evening at the village, adding that the bodies were being preserved at Bukoba Referral Regional hospital.<\/p>\n
In a related development, he urged drivers to exercise caution while driving and equally advised pedestrians to walk on sidewalks especially at dusk when visibility becomes poor.<\/p>\n
For the motorcycle riders locally known as \u2018boda boda\u2019 the RPC urged them to ensure that they have two helmets, one being for the rider and the other for the passenger.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am strongly warning and would not allow avoid speeding and carrying more than one passenger as you call it \u201cmishikaki\u201d, because it was an offense.<\/p>\n
\u201cDespite all the efforts by police force and other stakeholders, road traffic accidents at present are still not encouraging, and hence all concerted efforts to address this problem must come into play,\u201d he pointed out.<\/p>\n
Commander Malimi further said that it becomes painful to families and the State to lose its citizens and render some disables, yet the problem and its solution is with the people.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe rate of accidents can be contained when members of the public cooperate with the police to report traffic offenses… some of the accidents are avoidable.<\/p>\n
Some of you travel frequently between Bukoba \u2013 Dar es Salaam and other cities, and you witness traffic rules being violated by drivers and you never report them for necessary action.<\/p>\n
