Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>THE Association of Tanzania Employers (ATE) in collaboration with Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO) train female parliamentarians in Zanzibar to build their capacity in leadership.<\/p>\n

The training is part of the ‘Female Future Programme’ is run jointly by the ATE and the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI).<\/p>\n

Representing Speaker of the Zanzibar House of Representatives, Zubeir Ali Maulid, at the launch of the training recently, Deputy Speaker Mgeni Hassan Juma said the House recognizes contribution of women in leadership.<\/p>\n

Mr Juma noted that various studies have proved women participation in leadership brings efficiency in efforts to bring development in the country.<\/p>\n

“I have been impressed with the training package which contains three components of leadership, governance and rhetoric. These areas of training are in line with responsibilities and needs of MPs. It’s clear that the training will increase efficiency and be catalyst in boosting country’s development,” he said.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cOur government recognizes and respect contribution of women in leadership for bringing positive changes the country.”<\/p>\n

President Samia Suluhu Hassan has shown real intent of engaging more women in leadership by appointing them in key leadership positions.<\/p>\n

Executive Director of ATE, Ms Suzanne Ndomba -Doran the training to female representatives came following an appeal from President Samia to the association that it should also offer such training to female MPs and political leaders.<\/p>\n

On his part, Director General of ESAMI, Prof Bonard Mwape, said the ESAMI and ATE have been running the programme since 2016.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have done seven cohorts so far. I am glad to say that the women who have gone through this programme have performed excellently indeed. We also did launch the same for women parliamentarians in the mainland last year, 2021,\u201d Prof Mwape stated.<\/p>\n
