THE Tanzania Electric Supply Company (Tanesco) has called upon members of the public to inculcate a culture of checking the statues of electrical wiring in their homes after every five years.<\/p>\n
Making the observation in Bukoba Municipality Council during a sensitisation seminar held for reporters in Kagera Region recently, Tanesco Electric Engineer, Hassan Mashaka said home owners should have a tendency of inspecting lighting and power distribution wiring systems in their premises to see into it that they are in working order, and not tampered with.<\/p>\n
He said majority of Tanzanians have no tendency of checking the electrical wiring systems in their houses, which in turn pose risks, whenever fire outbreaks occur as a result of electrical faults.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople are advised to maintain their houses at least after every five years to check the wiring system, this is because in most cases, electrical faults appear due to nonmaintenance of houses,\u201d said Engineer Mashaka at the seminar organised by the Consumer Consultative Council of Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA CCC).<\/p>\n
In a related development, he advised the public to report whoever will demand money from them posing as Tanesco technicians to repair any faulty line.<\/p>\n
\u201cTanesco has scrapped off service charges, and I would therefore, urge our customers to contact any nearest Tanesco office whenever one has any problem,\u201d pointed out the staff.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Minister for Energy, Dr Medard Kalemani has assured Kagera residents that by May, this year about 95 per cent villages in the area will be connected to the national grid.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
