{"id":5246,"date":"2020-03-14T15:01:09","date_gmt":"2020-03-14T15:01:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/tanzania\/?p=5246"},"modified":"2020-03-14T15:01:09","modified_gmt":"2020-03-14T15:01:09","slug":"pharmacists-vow-to-support-govt-industrialisation-agenda","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/tanzania\/policy\/pharmacists-vow-to-support-govt-industrialisation-agenda","title":{"rendered":"PHARMACISTS VOW TO SUPPORT GOVT INDUSTRIALISATION AGENDA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PHARMACISTS in the country have vowed to support the government industrialisation agenda and improvement of health service initiatives undertaken in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing a press conference in Dar es Salaam on Friday, Mr Issa Hango who serves as president of the Pharmaceutical Society of Tanzania (PST) said as pharmacists were scheduled to hold the annual general meeting (AGM) and a scientific conference mid this month they expected to come up with best ways of supporting the agenda.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe AGM scheduled for March 16-17, this year, will bring together pharmacists from different parts of the country who will discuss and come up with resolutions on how best to boost quality pharmaceuticals and medical equipment related industries currently under construction,\u201d said Mr Hango.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that the government had made strides in improving the health sector by increasing the number of hospitals and health centres as well as attracting investments in pharmaceutical industries in which the pharmacists must contemplate ways of taking part for the sustainability of the health sector which was a pillar for the country\u2019s production.<\/p>\n<p>The PST president said other issues to be discussed in the forthcoming AGM and scientific conference included advising the government on how to use qualified professionals to combat theft and smuggling of medicines and other medical equipment in government health facilities, a situation which has been denying timely medication to citizens.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPST has learnt that there are some complaints related to thefts of medicines at various health centres.
