Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has made appointments of various heads of institutions as part of continued efforts to improve productivity and efficiency in service delivery.<\/p>\n

Among the new appointees include retired Chief Secretary, Ambassador Ombeni Sefue, who now becomes the Board Chairman for Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation (TPDC).<\/p>\n

Amb Sefue is taking over from Mr Halfani Ramadhan Halfani, who has been moved to serve the same post in the Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority (PURA).<\/p>\n

A statement issued by the Directorate of Presidential Communications on Friday reads further that President Samia also appointed Prof Rwekaza Mukandala Chairman of the Council of the University of Dodoma (UDOM).<\/p>\n

Prof Mukandala who is the retired Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dar es Salam (UDSM) is replacing Ms Gaudencia Kabaka.<\/p>\n

President Samia also appointed Prof Said Yahya Othman to serve the post of Chairperson of the Council of the Mzumbe University.<\/p>\n

\u201cProf Othman, who is a retired associate Professor of the University of Dar es Salaam, is covering a vacuum left by Prof Mathew Luhanga, who died on September 16th 2021,\u201d read part of the statement.<\/p>\n

In another development, President Samia has appointed Eng Charles Sangweni to become the Director General of Petroleum Upstream Regulatory Authority (PURA).<\/p>\n

Prior to his appointment, Eng Sangweni was heading PURA in an acting capacity.<\/p>\n

More so, the Head of State appointed Eng Modestus Lumato to become the new Director General of the Energy and Water Regulatory Authority EWURA.<\/p>\n

Prior to his latest appointment, Mr Lumato was Production Manager of the TPDC.<\/p>\n

A list of appointees also includes Eliakim Maswi, who has been named the Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA).<\/p>\n

\u201cMr Maswi is taking over from Dr Irene Isaka, who moves to the East Africa Community (EAC) to serve the post of Director of Social Sector,\u201d further read the statement.<\/p>\n
