Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>YOUNG Africans kit designer Sheria Ngowi said the creative art behind the team’s 2022\/23 season jerseys is the story-telling of the value of the club claiming they have shifted history from books to fashion.<\/p>\n

Yanga unveiled their next season’s home (green), away (yellow) and neutral (black) kits on Thursday night in Dar es Salaam a day after signing a lucrative three-year sponsorship deal with SportPesa worth 12bn\/-.<\/p>\n

The paraded jerseys will be sold at a retail price of 35,000\/- and the club has already warned those who produce counterfeit kit to stop the malpractice at once or else they will be held accountable.<\/p>\n

As usual, Ngowi who also designed last season jerseys of the Jangwani street giants, was compelled to elaborate on various designing features appearing on the paraded kits saying it is all about story-telling.<\/p>\n

“Last season, we dedicated the jerseys to Yanga fraternity as one way of showing appreciation to them for being with the club for many years.<\/p>\n

“But now, we are talking about the whole country, as you know, we are going to compete in CAF Champions League hence we came up with a plan to create something merely to help in promoting the country.<\/p>\n

“Many people visit the country and for now, Yanga are the champions and are currently the most valued club in the country. Because of this, we have decided to include iconic monuments that we have in different parts of the nation featured on the home kit,” he said.<\/p>\n

Elaborating on the story behind the away jersey, he pointed out that Yanga have gone digital after digitally registering their branch members across the country that is why the shirt has got connecting dots symbolising that the club has achieved digital transformation.<\/p>\n

For the neutral jersey (black), he said they have recognised legends of the club by putting their signatures on it insisting that they sacrificed themselves to make Yanga great as it is now hence they deserve such recognition for their passionate services.<\/p>\n

“This will help to give morale to young players at the Yanga and other clubs that if they really work hard, one day, they will be appreciated for their good deeds…as such, we have taken history of the club from books into fashion,” Ngowi narrated.<\/p>\n

He continued: “Yanga will always be a club which reveals its history through jerseys. We will continue to be part of this adventurous journey of trying to make the club big on the continent.”<\/p>\n
