Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>DEPUTY Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of State in the Vice-President\u2019s Office responsible for Environment, Dr Switbert Mkama, has called upon residents in Mp\u00adwapwa District to properly manage development projects implemented in their areas.<\/p>\n

Dr Mkama made the call over the weekend while on a working visit to review the implementation of the Project to Endure Climate Change using Ecosystems (Eco\u00adsystem-Based Adaptation for Rural Resilience in Tanzania – EBBAR) implemented in Mpwapwa District.<\/p>\n

The project aims to support ru\u00adral communities and livelihoods that depend on healthy ecosystems to adapt to climate change in Tan\u00adzania.<\/p>\n

During the visit, Dr Mkama wit\u00adnessed the completion of four deep water wells capable of producing 40,000 litres per day which benefit the residents of Nghambi, Mbugani, Kiegea and Kazania villages.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe government is looking for funds to implement these projects that are very profitable for the peo\u00adple, I suggest you take care of them, help them and bring benefits now and for future generations\u201d stressed Dr Mkama.<\/p>\n

Also, he has asked the beneficia\u00adries of the projects to increase the speed of planting trees in their ar\u00adeas and engage in environmentally friendly agriculture as an alternative source of income and set an exam\u00adple of vegetable farming.<\/p>\n

On his part, Ng\u2019hambi Ward Councilor, Richard Milimo said the Ebbar Project has been a saviour for the residents of Mpwapwa because it has solved water challenge they have been facing for a long time.<\/p>\n

An amount of 800m\/-has been spent in Mpwapwa district through the project where land use plans have been prepared, four water wells, two dams, two dips, three greenhouses and a sunflower processing machine have been acquired.<\/p>\n

The project is managed by the Office of the Vice President, and also implemented in North A (Unguja), Simanjiro (Manyara), Mvomero (Morogoro) and Kishapu (Shinyanga) Councils<\/p>\n
