AfricaPress-Tanzania:<\/strong> THE Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU) in Kilimanjaro Region has embarked on a move intended to make the co-operative sector contribute to making Tanzania a mid-economy country through industrialisation.<\/p>\n

To make that possible the higher learning institution which is the East Africa\u2019s Centre of Excellence in co-operative and business education has in collaboration with the Tanzania Co-operative Development Commission (TCDC) organised an international conference on Co-operatives and Industrialisation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe conference scheduled for September 1st through September 3rd, this year, is expected to draw participants from different countries who are experts in the co-operative sector,\u201d said the Chairperson of the organising committee of the conference, Ms Neema Kumburu.<\/p>\n

\u201cMany intellectuals will present papers which will come out with answers to the challenges facing the co-operative sector through the researches which they conducted,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She continued to say that Tanzanian participants would be able to share experiences related to the co-operative sector as far the industrialisation processes are concerned from their foreign colleagues a move which would enable them improve the nation\u2019s industrialisation processes through the co-operative sector in the country.<\/p>\n

Commenting on the conference, Dr Cyril Komba who is a member of the organising committee of the International conference which carries the theme; Co-operative and industrialisation: Putting Members at the Centre said that different papers are expected to be presented including the one titled Role of Co-operatives in Industrialisation.<\/p>\n

He named other presentations, as Innovation in Co-operatives, Co-operative Financing, Co-operative and Environment Sustainability and Co-operatives and Sustainable Development Goals, to mention but a few.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are optimistic that participants will come out with findings which would enable the co-operative sector in the country contribute to the Government\u2019s policy of making Tanzania an industrialised country\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

Another member, Dr Isaac Kazungu said all papers which would be presented during the International forum would be published as the conference proceeds and that there would be six key note speakers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe best presented papers will go on to be published in the special issues of the Journal of Co-operative and Business Studies (JCBS) and the East African Journal of Social and Applied Sciences (EAJ-SAS\u201d, said Dr Kazungu, who is MoCU\u2019s Head of Research and Publications.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
