AfricaPress-Tanzania:<\/strong> STRIKERS in the country have been urged to take up extra scoring training programmes for them to be lethal at the goal mouth and be able to score many goals.<\/p>\n

This was said recently by former Taifa Stars striker Mohammed Hussein \u2018Mmachinga\u2019 who insisted that the current crop of strikers rely much on what their coaches tell them without taking trouble to seek other scoring tactics.<\/p>\n

“On several occasions, I have observed that most of our strikers become nervous whenever they get inside the penalty box or near to the opposite team’s goal as such, they end up missing great scoring chances.<\/p>\n

“A striker should always be calm inside the box because anything can happen. Confidence is what most strikers in the country lack and this is a big challenge for them since in the end, they end up scoring few goals in a single season than expected, ” he said.<\/p>\n

He added that during his active time on the battlefield, he was not afraid to listen to what other senior players used to tell him for the sake of sharpening his netting boots.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

“A good striker is the one who knows how to position himself before he gets the ball and not afterwards. I think most of our strikers usually make decision on how to position when they have already received the ball which is wrote,” he said.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Hussein who had ability to score many goals during his playing period said if he was still active on the field of play until now, he could have been scoring not less than 30 goals saying the modern football is easier than in those days.<\/p>\n

On his part, another former Taifa Stars player Salvatory Edward revealed that there must be good cooperation between the midfielders and strikers for the latter to execute their tasks well.<\/p>\n

“If one part between these two is not good, then you cannot see the better of another. In this case, strikers depend on midfielders to feed them with good passes to score goals otherwise, if the midfield section is not well organised, it is rare to see goals,” he said.<\/p>\n

He then urged strikers to work hard on the pitch and never be satisfied with what they have but rather to continue searching for more achievement in their football career.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
