AfricaPress-Tanzania:<\/strong> AS the World continue fighting against the spread of coronavirus, members of the public have been urged to continue taking precautions against other diseases, including malaria, kidney diseases, diabetes, tuberculosis (TB) and HIV\/Aids.<\/p>\n

Special Seats MP Khadija Hassan Aboud (CCM) told \u2018africa-press\u00a0 \u2019 in Zanzibar recently that members of the public must understand that other diseases were still there and that there was a need for every person to take them into account.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are fighting against Covid-19 at the moment, but the members of public must be aware that other diseases are still there and they are killing people. We must, therefore, fight against them at the same time,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n

She said members of the public must follow health officers\u2019 directives regarding protecting themselves against TB and other diseases, which were also dangerous to them. She said TB was also affecting many people if precautions were not taken seriously.<\/p>\n

\u201cTB is an airborne disease, we need to take all possible precautions to avoid contracting it,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n

She said Tanzanians must continue following the advice and directives from health experts, including cleaning their hands and their surroundings. \u201cWe are told to wash our hands from time to time to avoid contracting Covid-19.<\/p>\n

I would like to ask my fellow Tanzanians to continue with this culture even after defeating Covid-19. It is a good practice that will help us fight against other diseases as well,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n

On malaria, the MP said members of the public should clean their surroundings and use treated mosquito nets to avoid problems. \u201cMalaria is among the killer diseases in Africa.<\/p>\n

We must clean our surroundings by cutting all grass and clearing bushes around our residences. The uses of mosquito nets is also encouraged,\u201d said the MP.<\/p>\n
