Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>The MP\u2019s further have hailed the project for protecting environment, providing Project Affected Persons (PAPs) with supportive food baskets for the period of one year as well as imparting them with skills on how to manage modern agriculture and livestock to transform their lives.<\/p>\n

Speaking in Dodoma during an engagement meeting that involved EACOP\u2019s officials who gave an overview of the project, one of the MP\u2019s Esther Bulaya pointed out that the EACOP project poses as an excellent model for future projects to follow in terms of compensation.<\/p>\n

\u201dThe idea of engaging PAPs with an option to either choose replacement houses or being refunded with money in compensation is highly recommendable,\u201d said Bulaya.<\/p>\n

Stephen Hasunga, an MP for Vwawa, has stated that, in contrast to the “propaganda” that is being circulated, the project is quite distinct from other projects, adhering to both local and international rules.<\/p>\n

\u201cApart from the compensation, the PAPs have also received numerous trainings in contemporary agricultural and animal husbandry, they also received enough food to feed their family for a whole year,\u201d said Hasunga.<\/p>\n

Bukene MP Selemani Zedi also expressed his satisfaction with the project\u2019s situation in Sojo, Nzega in Tabora region.<\/p>\n

\u201d More that 400 hectares were impacted in my constituency, but all the PAPs received huge compensation and further more were assisted with important skills on how to manage modern farming and livestock keeping to improve their livelihood,\u201d said honourable Zed.<\/p>\n

The EACOP project team held the meeting with MPs to provide an overview of the EACOP project and address key topics such as local content, land, and environmental social components.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, EACOP\u2019s Managing Director Martin Tiffen provided a comprehensive summary of the project\u2019s journey from the agreement stage to one year of execution.<\/p>\n

He said that EACOP remains committed to ensuring the successful implementation of the project, and the positive reception from Members of Parliament further reinforces their support.<\/p>\n

He said the engagement meeting with MPs marked an important milestone as it was the first time EACOP had the opportunity to meet with them at the Parliament premises, despite to the point that some of them have had opportunities to visit the project sites in Sojo and Chongoleani, gaining first-hand insights into the project\u2019s operations.<\/p>\n

He stressed that the engagement meeting with MPs represents a significant step forward for the EACOP project, fostering transparency, collaboration, and constructive dialogue with key stakeholders.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the meeting, the Deputy Minister for Energy, Stephen Byabato, assured all stakeholders that the EACOP project would be completed as planned, expressing the government\u2019s satisfaction with the progress achieved so far.<\/p>\n

\u201dThe implementation of the project has many economic impacts for the country despite providing employment to Tanzanians,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
