Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>DAR ES SALAAM: THE Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri society said their three-day medical camp in Dar es Salaam benefited hundreds of city residents who got free health services including medical checkups.<\/p>\n

Apart from offering Islamic services, the Khoja Shia Ithna-Asheri Islamic society offers humanitarian supports to Tanzanians without considering religions, tribes or races.<\/p>\n

Association\u2019s chairperson, Mr Muhammedraza Dewji, said the camp, which was held at Mnazi Mmoja grounds, was intended to offer free health services, including making medical checkups for eyes, non-communicable diseases and blood donation.<\/p>\n

Mr Dewji said such humanitarian activities were meant to give back to the community.<\/p>\n

The event pulled volunteering health experts and stakeholders from 50 institutions.<\/p>\n

Apart from health workers from health centres, hospitals and pharmacies, the camp also pulled stakeholders of non-governmental organisations of Wilphas and Hawzatul Mustafa.<\/p>\n

During the three-day camp, people with eye problems were diagnosed and referred to hospitals, such as KSI Temeke and Medewell, for free treatment.<\/p>\n

The camp managed to diagnose several residents who showed up without knowing their health status.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, which was the last day of the camp, a total of 300 residents were diagnosed with cataract and were promised to get free treatment at the association\u2019s hospitals.<\/p>\n

Apart from medical services, the camp was also part of propagating teachings of Imam Hussain.<\/p>\n

Mr Mohamedraza noted that at the event the participants reflected teachings of Imam Hussain who had fought for truth and surrendered his life.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis teachings based on spreading love and teachings of Prophet Mohammad. He explained about the importance of having mercy on others and embracing justice,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
