Africa-Press – Tchad. <\/strong><\/span> L\u2019Organisation mondiale de la Sant\u00e9 (OMS) a lanc\u00e9 jeudi 31 mars 2022, un plan visant \u00e0 les emp\u00eacher une nouvelle pand\u00e9mie due aux arbovirus qui repr\u00e9sentent une menace mortelle.<\/p>\n

\u201cLes arbovirus sont peut-\u00eatre peu connus de la plupart d\u2019entre nous, mais pour pr\u00e8s de quatre milliards de personnes\u201d, s\u2019inqui\u00e8te l\u2019OMS dans un article publi\u00e9 sur ONU Info. Les arbovirus les plus courants sont en fait certaines des maladies transmises par les moustiques les plus dangereuses au monde, telles que la dengue, la fi\u00e8vre jaune, le chikungunya et le Zika.<\/p>\n

Elles repr\u00e9sentent une menace sanitaire permanente et massive dans les r\u00e9gions tropicales et subtropicales de la plan\u00e8te, m\u00eame si, selon l\u2019Organisation mondiale de la Sant\u00e9, le nombre d\u2019\u00e9pid\u00e9mies d\u2019arboviroses dans le monde est en augmentation.<\/p>\n

Se f\u00e9licitant de cette initiative, le chef du programme d\u2019urgence de l\u2019OMS, Dr Mike Ryan, a expliqu\u00e9 que le syst\u00e8me permettrait aux autorit\u00e9s sanitaires de s\u2019attaquer aux \u00ab menaces vastes mais connexes \u00bb que repr\u00e9sentent la dengue, la fi\u00e8vre jaune, le chikungunya et le Zika, dans diff\u00e9rentes parties du monde.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Pour chacune de ces maladies, des progr\u00e8s ont \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9s dans diff\u00e9rents aspects de la surveillance, de la r\u00e9ponse, de la recherche et du d\u00e9veloppement \u00bb, a-t-il d\u00e9clar\u00e9. \u00ab Mais la durabilit\u00e9 est souvent limit\u00e9e \u00e0 la port\u00e9e et \u00e0 la dur\u00e9e des projets sp\u00e9cifiques \u00e0 une maladie \u00bb.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Il est urgent de r\u00e9\u00e9valuer les outils dont nous disposons et la mani\u00e8re dont ils peuvent \u00eatre utilis\u00e9s pour toutes les maladies afin de garantir une r\u00e9ponse efficace, une pratique fond\u00e9e sur des preuves, un personnel \u00e9quip\u00e9 et form\u00e9 et l\u2019engagement des communaut\u00e9s \u00bb, a-t-il ajout\u00e9.<\/p>\n

L\u2019Initiative mondiale contre les arbovirus se concentrera sur la surveillance des risques, la pr\u00e9vention des pand\u00e9mies, la pr\u00e9paration, la d\u00e9tection et la r\u00e9ponse, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 l\u2019agence des Nations Unies. Elle a insist\u00e9 sur le fait qu\u2019une action internationale est essentielle, \u00e9tant donn\u00e9 \u00ab la fr\u00e9quence et l\u2019ampleur des \u00e9pid\u00e9mies \u00bb d\u2019arbovirus, en particulier ceux qui sont transmis par les moustiques Aedes.<\/p>\n

Leur port\u00e9e s\u2019accro\u00eet \u00e9galement, a averti l\u2019OMS, sous l\u2019effet du changement climatique, de la croissance d\u00e9mographique et de l\u2019urbanisation croissante.<\/p>\n

Chaque ann\u00e9e, la dengue infecte 390 millions de personnes dans les 130 pays o\u00f9 elle est end\u00e9mique. Elle peut provoquer une fi\u00e8vre h\u00e9morragique et la mort. La fi\u00e8vre jaune pr\u00e9sente un risque \u00e9lev\u00e9 d\u2019\u00e9pid\u00e9mies dans 40 pays et provoque une jaunisse, une fi\u00e8vre h\u00e9morragique grave et la mort.<\/p>\n

Le chikungunya est moins connu, mais il est pr\u00e9sent dans 115 pays et provoque une arthrite grave et invalidante pour les articulations. Le virus Zika a acquis une notori\u00e9t\u00e9 mondiale en 2016 lorsqu\u2019il a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9couvert qu\u2019il provoquait des malformations cong\u00e9nitales telles que la microc\u00e9phalie. Il a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9tect\u00e9 dans au moins 89 pays.<\/p>\n

Bien qu\u2019il existe un vaccin contre la fi\u00e8vre jaune, pour le reste, la meilleure protection consiste \u00e0 pr\u00e9venir les piq\u00fbres de moustiques en premier lieu, estime l\u2019OMS.<\/p>\n
