Africa-Press – Tchad. <\/strong><\/span>Le pr\u00e9sident du comit\u00e9 s\u00e9natorial des affaires \u00e9trang\u00e8res (SFRC), Bob Menedez, a introduit au S\u00e9nat am\u00e9ricain, le 11 juillet dernier, une r\u00e9solution en faveur de la d\u00e9mocratie au Tchad.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Appel \u00e0 une transition d\u00e9mocratique en R\u00e9publique du Tchad et soutien au peuple tchadien \u00bb, tel est l\u2019appel du s\u00e9nateur am\u00e9ricain Bob Menedez, pr\u00e9sident de la commission s\u00e9natoriale des affaires \u00e9trang\u00e8res, qui a introduit, une r\u00e9solution condamnant \u00ab le coup d\u2019Etat d\u2019avril 2021 au Tchad \u00bb et \u00ab exigeant instamment que la transition d\u00e9coule sur une vraie d\u00e9mocratie \u00bb.La r\u00e9solution demande au g\u00e9n\u00e9ral d\u2019arm\u00e9e, Mahamat Idriss D\u00e9by Itno et aux autorit\u00e9s de transition de s\u2019engager \u00e0 organiser des \u00e9lections en 2022, conform\u00e9ment au calendrier approuv\u00e9 par l\u2019Union Africaine, en plus de la promesse des militaires au pouvoir de ne pas se pr\u00e9senter \u00e0 la prochaine pr\u00e9sidentielle.<\/p>\n

\u00ab La r\u00e9solution demande \u00e9galement au d\u00e9partement d\u2019Etat de rendre public ses plans pour obliger les auteurs de violations des droits de l\u2019homme \u00e0 rendre des comptes et de suspendre l\u2019aide bilat\u00e9rale non humanitaire au Tchad jusqu\u2019\u00e0 ce que le pouvoir civil soit r\u00e9tabli par des \u00e9lections d\u00e9mocratiques libres, \u00e9quitables et pacifiques \u00bb, peut-on lire dans le document.<\/p>\n

Dans le document \u00ab Appel \u00e0 une transition d\u00e9mocratique en R\u00e9publique du Tchad et soutien au peuple tchadien \u00bb, Bob Menedez d\u2019ajouter \u00ab qu\u2019il est fier d\u2019introduire cette r\u00e9solution critique affirmant le soutien des Etats-Unis \u00e0 un dialogue national cr\u00e9dible et inclusif ax\u00e9 sur le retour \u00e0 l\u2019ordre constitutionnel et au r\u00e9tablissement d\u2019un leadership civil et demandant instamment que le g\u00e9n\u00e9ral Mahamat Idriss D\u00e9by Itno et les autres membres de l\u2019arm\u00e9e tchadienne, qui doivent retourner dans leurs casernes, rendent des comptes \u00bb.<\/p>\n

Il faut rappeler que cette r\u00e9solution fait suite aux pr\u00e9c\u00e9dents appels du pr\u00e9sident du comit\u00e9 s\u00e9natorial, pour que les Etats-Unis jouent un r\u00f4le plus important dans le soutien \u00e0 la transition du Tchad vers un r\u00e9gime civil. D\u00e9j\u00e0, en mars dernier, Bob Menedez s\u2019est oppos\u00e9, dans une lettre, \u00e0 l\u2019octroi d\u2019une assistance s\u00e9curitaire au Tchad en l\u2019absence d\u2019un plan am\u00e9ricain complet donnant la priorit\u00e9 \u00e0 la d\u00e9mocratie et \u00e0 la bonne gouvernance<\/p>\n
