Africa-Press – Tchad. <\/strong><\/span>Le Niger, le Mali et le Tchad, figurent parmi les sept pays les plus vuln\u00e9rables au changement climatique dans le monde et leur capacit\u00e9 d\u2019adaptation est fortement limit\u00e9e par la pauvret\u00e9 et la fragilit\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Le rapport national sur le climat et le d\u00e9veloppement, publi\u00e9 par le Groupe de la Banque mondiale pour les pays du G5 Sahel, indique que 13,5 millions de personnes suppl\u00e9mentaires pourraient basculer dans la pauvret\u00e9 \u00e0 travers la sous-r\u00e9gion d\u2019ici 2050, du fait des chocs li\u00e9s au changement climatique. D\u2019apr\u00e8s ce rapport, le Sahel est particuli\u00e8rement vuln\u00e9rable \u00e0 la d\u00e9gradation des terres et la d\u00e9sertification. \u00ab La r\u00e9gion est en effet confront\u00e9e \u00e0 une s\u00e9v\u00e8re augmentation des s\u00e9cheresses, des inondations, et autres impacts caus\u00e9s par le changement climatique. \u00bb, peut-on lire.<\/p>\n

\u00ab Le changement climatique affecte s\u00e9v\u00e8rement les populations et vient remettre en cause les gains de d\u00e9veloppement durement acquis. L\u2019analyse indique que le changement climatique renforce les cycles de pauvret\u00e9, de fragilit\u00e9, et de vuln\u00e9rabilit\u00e9 dans le Sahel, \u00bb<\/b> souligne Ousmane Diagana,<\/b> vice-pr\u00e9sident de la Banque mondiale pour l\u2019Afrique de l\u2019Ouest et centrale<\/b>. \u00ab Avec une population qui devrait doubler au cours des 20 prochaines ann\u00e9es pour atteindre 160 millions de personnes, les pays du Sahel doivent acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer leur croissance et prioriser l\u2019adaptation climatique s\u2019ils veulent concr\u00e9tiser le dividende d\u00e9mographique et mettre la r\u00e9gion sur la voie d\u2019une croissance durable et inclusive. \u00bb<\/b><\/p>\n

Par ailleurs, fait savoir explique Clara de Sousa, directrice des op\u00e9rations de la Banque mondiale pour le Burkina Faso, le Mali, le Niger et le Tchad : \u00ab Il existe de r\u00e9elles opportunit\u00e9s pour d\u00e9velopper un Sahel plus r\u00e9silient. \u00bb<\/b><\/p>\n

Pour att\u00e9nuer l\u2019impact de cette crise et aider le secteur agricole \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper sa r\u00e9silience climatique \u00e0 moyen terme, le Groupe propose d\u2019\u00e9tendre les programmes de protection sociale et les initiatives en faveur des paysages agricoles pour adopter de meilleures pratiques de gestion des ressources et accro\u00eetre l\u2019usage des technologies adaptives.<\/p>\n
