Plusieurs e\u0301le\u0301phants ont e\u0301te\u0301 abattus, de\u0301but avril, par des braconniers dans la zone de Beinamar, dans le de\u0301partement de la Dodje\u0301, dans le Logone Occidental. Leurs de\u0301fenses ont e\u0301te\u0301 arrache\u0301es et leurs te\u0302tes coupe\u0301es, indique le site alwihdainfo.<\/p>\n

Les enque\u0302tes mene\u0301es sur le terrain sugge\u0300rent que ce sont des cavaliers arme\u0301s qui sont responsables de ces crimes, pre\u0301cise le me\u0302me me\u0301dia.<\/p>\n

Le braconnage avait diminue\u0301 depuis environ 10 ans, lorsque feu le pre\u0301sident Idriss De\u0301by avait pris des mesures tre\u0300s strictes pour prote\u0301ger les derniers e\u0301le\u0301phants du Tchad a\u0300 partir de 2008.<\/p>\n

Ces mesures ont e\u0301te\u0301 prises apre\u0300s que des cavaliers arme\u0301s venus du Soudan ont massacre\u0301 plus de 90 % des e\u0301le\u0301phants du parc national de Zakouma en quelques mois seulement, rappelle encore alwihdainfo.<\/p>\n

Cependant, la situation s’est aggrave\u0301e ces dernie\u0300res anne\u0301es et les e\u0301le\u0301phants sont en voie de disparition au Tchad. Il reste moins de 1500 e\u0301le\u0301phants aujourd’hui, alors qu’il y a 30 ans, ils e\u0301taient plusieurs dizaines de milliers, souligne le me\u0301dia tchadien, pre\u0301cisant que les e\u0301le\u0301phants re\u0301sident dans des zones prote\u0301ge\u0301es, mais aussi a\u0300 l’exte\u0301rieur de ces zones ou\u0300 ils sont tre\u0300s vulne\u0301rables au braconnage.<\/p>\n

Certaines populations d’e\u0301le\u0301phants sont me\u0302me ne\u0301glige\u0301es par l’E\u0301tat Tchadien car elles ne sont pas dans des zones prote\u0301ge\u0301es, comme les e\u0301le\u0301phants du fleuve Chari. Ces troupeaux n’ont pas de se\u0301curite\u0301 adapte\u0301e et leurs habitats sont progressivement de\u0301truits, ce qui accroi\u0302t les conflits hommes\/e\u0301le\u0301phants et exacerbe les tensions communautaires, sans solution en vue pour sauvegarder ces troupeaux de la perte de leur habitat, note la me\u0302me source.<\/p>\n

La plupart des quelque 1.500 e\u0301le\u0301phants recense\u0301s par l’association vivent dans des re\u0301serves prote\u0301ge\u0301es mais ils sont braconne\u0301s, surtout de\u0300s qu’ils en sortent, explique SOS Ele\u0301phants, qui appelle le pre\u0301sident Mahamat Idriss De\u0301by Itno, a\u0300 \u00ab\u00a0faire preuve de la plus grande fermete\u0301\u00a0\u00bb, rapporte pour sa part le site Sciencesetavenir.<\/p>\n
