Africa-Press – Tchad. <\/strong><\/span>Le charge\u0301 du programme de l’ADC, Ngartolnan Justin, a souligne\u0301 que la consommation de tabac, y compris des produits tels que la chicha et les cigarettes e\u0301lectroniques, gagne du terrain chez les jeunes tchadiens. Dans certains pays de la re\u0301gion, les taux d’utilisation de la cigarette e\u0301lectronique chez les enfants d’a\u0302ge scolaire sont 2 a\u0300 3 fois plus e\u0301leve\u0301s que les taux de consommation de cigarettes.<\/p>\n

M. Justin a accuse\u0301 l’industrie du tabac de cibler de\u0301libe\u0301re\u0301ment les jeunes tchadiens avec ses produits mortels. Il a appele\u0301 les autorite\u0301s et les acteurs de la lutte antitabac a\u0300 prote\u0301ger les ge\u0301ne\u0301rations futures et a\u0300 faire rendre des comptes a\u0300 l’industrie du tabac pour les dommages qu’elle cause.<\/p>\n

L’ADC a e\u0301galement exprime\u0301 son indignation face a\u0300 la re\u0301duction de la taxe spe\u0301cifique sur les produits du tabac, passe\u0301e de 100 FCFA a\u0300 50 FCFA le 1er janvier 2023. Cette taxe e\u0301tait destine\u0301e a\u0300 financer le re\u0301gime 3 de la Couverture sante\u0301 universelle (CSU).<\/p>\n

L’organisation a rappele\u0301 au gouvernement ses obligations internationales, notamment celles relatives a\u0300 la mise en \u0153uvre de la Convention-cadre de l’OMS pour la lutte antitabac, en particulier l’article 6 sur les mesures financie\u0300res et fiscales visant a\u0300 re\u0301duire la demande de tabac.<\/p>\n
