Africa-Press – Togo. <\/strong><\/span>The new Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Togo, Mrs. Harriet Clare Thompson congratulated Togo for joining Commonwealth Nations.<\/p>\n

The British diplomat had her first meeting with the Togolese Head of State Faure Essozimna Gnassingb\u00e9 this Monday, June 27, 2022. During their meeting, she welcomed the official admission of Togo into the Commonwealth Nations.<\/p>\n

\u201cTogo must be congratulated on its entry into the Commonwealth. Considering the importance of Commonwealth values \u200b\u200bin the world, it is good to have Togo as a member. This is something important to congratulate, \u201dsaid the ambassador.<\/p>\n

Togo officially joined the organization at the end of its 26th summit of the organization (CHOGM) which was held on June 24 and 25, 2022 in Kigali, Rwanda.<\/p>\n

Harriet Clare Thompson also renewed her country\u2019s commitment to strengthen cooperative relations with Togo in various sectors.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is truly an honor to serve as UK Ambassador to Togo. It\u2019s a magnificent country. I am here to strengthen relations in the fields of security, trade, infrastructure, health and business and explore new opportunities for cooperation.\u201c, she said.<\/p>\n

Before her appointment to Lom\u00e9, Mrs Thompson was Secretary at the Permanent Representation to the European Union (EU), Head of the Prime Minister\u2019s Service Delivery Unit, Head of the UK Delegation to the Climate Change Negotiations and Deputy to the UK High Commissioner to Abuja in Nigeria.<\/p>\n
