Africa-Press – Uganda. The Katikkiro of Buganda Kingdom, Charles Peter Mayiga, has called upon the people of Buganda to adopt modern work ethics rooted in creativity, transparency, commitment, and passion for work.
He emphasized that embracing these four pillars is essential for personal growth, business development, and community transformation.
The Katikkiro made the remarks during the official launch of the Buve Retreat Center, a newly established leisure and relaxation facility located in Bugujju Mazzi, Masuliita Sub-county, Busiro County.
The retreat center was founded by Mr. and Mrs. Javis Lubwama Mugagga, who were commended for their vision and investment in local development.
Katikkiro who was accompanied by the Minister for Youth, Sports, and Talent, Robert Sserwanga received a warm reception by the retreat center’s founder, Mr. Lubwama, and his team.
The day’s activities included a guided tour of the facility, signing of the visitor’s book, tree planting, and the official unveiling of the new center. The ceremony was blessed by Fr. Ignatius Bayita.
In his keynote address, Katikkiro Mayiga urged citizens, particularly the youth, to shift their mindset and embrace a productive, values-driven work culture.
“If we all adopt creativity, transparency, commitment, and passion in our work, we will not only transform our individual lives but also elevate our communities and the entire Buganda Kingdom,” the Katikkiro said.
He stressed that Buganda’s strength lies in its people and their work ethic, and encouraged everyone to work harder and smarter for sustainable progress.
“The foundation of Buganda is the work of its people. Hard work and ethical conduct must define us,” he added.
Katikkiro Mayiga praised Mr. and Mrs. Lubwama for channeling their resources into a project that promotes wellness, tourism, and economic empowerment in their home area. He also acknowledged their parents for nurturing responsible and visionary citizens.
Also speaking at the event, the Minister for Youth, Sports, and Talent, Robert Sserwanga, rallied the youth to maintain discipline, describing it as a cornerstone of success.
“Discipline is the bridge between dreams and achievements. Mr. Lubwama and his wife are a shining example of what focused, disciplined young people can accomplish,” said Minister Sserwanga.
He encouraged the youth to heed the advice of the Katikkiro and emulate the Lubwamas’ entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to community development.

He expressed deep appreciation to the Katikkiro for his inspirational leadership, which he said has been instrumental in shaping his outlook and values.
“This retreat center is a dream that has come true through perseverance and guidance from leaders like the Katikkiro. It is my hope that it becomes a place of healing, peace, and inspiration for all,” Lubwama said.
Vincent Kayongo, the Second Deputy County Chief of Busiro, commended Mr. Lubwama for investing in the development of his community and expressed optimism about the positive impact the center will have on the local economy and youth employment.
The Buve Retreat Center is expected to serve as a hub for leisure, wellness, and events, offering a serene environment for both locals and visitors seeking relaxation and reflection.
The event ended on a celebratory note, with performances and community interaction highlighting the significance of youth-led development and responsible investment in Buganda.
