Kushaba Vows to Shake up Kampala Central

Africa-Press – Uganda. Aspiring Kampala Central MP Suzan Kushaba has vowed to run as an independent candidate in the upcoming elections, sending a defiant message to the political establishment.

Speaking at a media briefing in Kampala, Kushaba said her decision follows the NRM’s refusal to give her the party card, but insisted that this setback will not derail her ambitions.

“I may have been denied the NRM party card, but that will not stop me,” she declared.

“The ghetto must rise. Women must be empowered. Our youth need jobs and opportunities — and that’s exactly what I’m coming to fight for.”

Kushaba, who enjoys significant grassroots support among Kampala’s urban poor, said her campaign will be driven by the people, not political party structures.

“I’m not here to wear colors — I’m here to deliver change. For too long, the voices of the ghetto, struggling women, and unemployed youth have been ignored. I’m stepping forward for them,” she said.

Her announcement has sparked debate in Kampala Central’s political circles, with observers noting her growing popularity in communities often overlooked by mainstream politicians.

With election season gathering pace, Kushaba’s independent bid is emerging as one to watch, promising to take the voices of the ghetto straight to Parliament.
