Adhola Institution Seeks Road and Palace Construction

Africa-Press – Uganda. The Adhola Cultural Institution has reaffirmed its commitment to working with the government in driving socioeconomic transformation across Padhola, with renewed calls for the fulfillment of key presidential pledges, including the construction of the Nagongera–Busolwe Road, a royal palace, and a women’s university in Tororo.

On Tuesday, the Regional Commissioner for RDCs in Eastern Uganda, Col. Dhamuzungu Oguli, led a delegation of government officials to pay a courtesy call on Kwar Adhola Stephen Moses Owor at his residence in Tororo.

The delegation included RDC Tororo Hajji Sadiq Bategana, Deputy RDC Amula Albert, Assistant RDCs Falijara Samuel, Oketcho Julius, Aidah Kagen, and Tororo DISO Musiwa Samuel.

Col. Dhamuzungu emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between government and cultural institutions to spur sustainable development, urging the Adhola leadership to champion government poverty alleviation programs such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, and other wealth-creation initiatives.

“Cultural institutions are key partners in mobilizing communities for development. We call upon the Adhola leadership to strengthen their support towards government programs that uplift households from poverty,” Col. Dhamuzungu said.

In his remarks, Kwar Adhola Stephen Moses Owor welcomed the partnership and reiterated the cultural institution’s role in advancing national development goals.

He pointed out ongoing efforts by the institution in promoting HIV/AIDS awareness, combating gender-based violence, supporting education, and driving wealth creation through sensitization campaigns.

The cultural leader also commended President Museveni for facilitating the establishment of a community radio station in Tororo, noting its impact in creating awareness and mobilizing communities for development.

“We are committed to supporting government initiatives that foster peace, unity, and sustainable growth in our region,” Kwar Adhola pledged.

During the engagement, Prime Minister of the Adhola Cultural Institution, Jago Obbo Richard Josel, urged the government team to expedite long-standing pledges made by the President to Padhola including tarmacking of the Tororo–Nagongera–Busolwe Road, a key route that becomes impassable during the rainy season, limiting connectivity between Tororo, Butaleja, and Namutumba districts

He also wants Construction of a royal palace to be expedited to serve as a symbol of heritage and unity for the Adhola people as well the establishment of a Women’s University in Tororo – to promote skilling, empowerment, and higher education for women in the region, all pending pledges promised by President Museveni a while ago.

“The Nagongera–Busolwe Road is critical for trade and movement. We urge the government to fast-track its construction as earlier promised by the President. The palace and women’s university must also be prioritized since all the documentation has been done and forwarded to relevant authorities,” Richard Josel Jago Obbo appealed.

Tororo RDC Hajji Sadiq Bategana praised Kwar Adhola for his role in uniting Tororo’s diverse cultural communities and fostering peace and harmony in the district.

He acknowledged the institution’s continued contribution to peacebuilding and development.

The visit, officials said, marked yet another step in strengthening the partnership between government and cultural institutions in the pursuit of accelerated socioeconomic transformation.
