Africa-Press – Uganda. The NRM electoral tribunal has ruled in favor of State Minister of Finance, Henry Musasizi, declaring him the duly elected party flag bearer for Rubanda East constituency ahead of the 2026 general elections.
The decision follows a petition filed by Kenneth Jogo Biryabarema, who finished second in the July 17, 2025 primaries with 18,832 votes against Musasizi’s 22,538.
The results had earlier been announced by Rubanda District NRM Returning Officer Monday Aggrey.
Biryabarema, represented by lawyers Haruna Ssewaya, Yaziddi Tibamuteteke, and Susan Niwahereza, had alleged irregularities including voter bribery, intimidation, use of multiple registers, sectarianism, and manipulation of the process.
Musasizi’s legal team, comprising Elvis Twenda, Joshua Oruro, and Ronald Atuheire, countered the claims during the hearing.
After considering both oral and written submissions, the tribunal dismissed the petition and upheld Musasizi’s win.
Reacting to the ruling, Musasizi thanked the tribunal and his supporters, pledging to remain committed to the development of Rubanda East.
“Our ruling is out, thank you friends and supporters for the prayers and support,” Musasizi said shortly after the decision.
