Wanyoto Withdraws from NRM Women’S League Race

Africa-Press – Uganda. Lydia Wanyoto has withdrawn from the ongoing race for the NRM Women’s League, with sources in Kololo indicating that the embattled incumbent has taken her supporters along to back Faridah Kiboowa.

Wanyoto reportedly anticipated an embarrassing defeat when her support base appeared too small to mount a credible challenge.

“She has decided to withdraw from the race after seeing that the line of voters behind her was shorter than her own noon shadow. She will now back Faridah Kiboowa,” a reporter at the scene said.

Wanyoto had been seeking re-election as Women’s League Chairperson, a position she has held since 2015.

She was up against Faridah Kiboowa, a long-serving National Women’s Council Chair with strong party connections; Cissy Namujju, the Lwengo District Woman MP; and Adrine Kobusigye, a businesswoman.
