Africa-Press – Uganda. Preparations are in full swing at Kaala Grounds in Nateete as supporters of the National Unity Platform (NUP) gather to welcome party president Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine.
The NUP leader is set to be officially nominated tomorrow as a presidential candidate.
From early morning, supporters from across Kampala—including Rubaga South, Rubaga North, and Kawempe—flocked to the venue.
Many were seen clearing grounds, setting up tents, erecting platforms, and decorating the area in party colors.
Vehicles draped with campaign posters and banners moved through nearby communities, mobilizing even more supporters.
Key party officials and candidates, including Aloysius Mukasa (Rubaga South), Zahara Luyirika (Kampala Woman MP aspirant), and Balimwezo Ronald (Lord Mayor contestant), actively participated in the mobilization drive.
Several councillor aspirants also energized the crowd with chants, music, and flag-waving.
Party leaders confirmed that police had cleared the rally but expressed concerns over the venue’s capacity.
“The space is too small for our people, but we shall proceed because this moment is about unity and strength,” one official said.
Despite logistical challenges, NUP leaders insist the event is symbolic—a rallying point for supporters and a prelude to Kyagulanyi’s official nomination.
They say the gathering will highlight both the resilience and growing momentum of the movement.
As anticipation builds, all eyes are on Nateete, where Kyagulanyi is expected to receive a hero’s welcome from thousands ahead of the crucial nomination event.
