Africa-Press – Uganda. The Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has passed out 62 soldiers who successfully completed a two-month Oracle Level 4 Kit Operator and End User Course at the Land Forces Headquarters in Bombo on Saturday.
Speaking during the graduation ceremony, the Chief of Staff – Land Force, Brigadier Chris Bagonza, congratulated the graduates for their commitment and praised the instructors for their dedication in ensuring the success of the program.
“This training will enhance both the UPDF and the nation at large with vital skills,” Bagonza said.
“The UPDF needs a skilled force to support operations effectively. Continuous training remains critical in maintaining a modern, professional army, as guided by our Commander-in-Chief, Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.”
Bagonza urged the graduates to uphold the discipline they exhibited throughout the course and to put their newly acquired knowledge into practice in their units.
“The skills you have gained should translate into real performance. Share what you have learned and inspire others,” he said.
Also addressing the ceremony, The Joint Staff Management Information Systems Officer Brigadier Ephraim Baguma Mugume underscored the importance of blending technical training with military drills. He noted that drills instill patience and discipline—qualities essential for professional conduct in the force.
The Head of Training, Maj. Shaluwah Ddegeya, commended both the trainees and instructors for their commitment.
She highlighted key modules covered in the program, including strength management, records management, pension management systems, payroll and SACCO entries, systems security, maintenance, and the use of Management Information System (MIS) kits.
The ceremony was attended by senior and junior UPDF officers, who lauded the initiative as a step toward building a more technically skilled and professional defence force.
