Africa-Press – Uganda. A high-level delegation from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has arrived in Uganda to launch a new phase of bilateral cooperation ahead of the Fourth Uganda–UAE Business Forum, scheduled for October 27–29 at Speke Resort Munyonyo.
The visit aims to showcase Uganda’s investment potential and explore joint ventures across key sectors including tourism, oil and gas, mineral development, renewable energy, infrastructure, real estate, agro-industry, and technology innovation.
The delegation was received at Entebbe International Airport by Second Secretary Asha Nabbanja, representing Uganda’s Ambassador to the UAE, Zaake Wanume Kibedi, alongside officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Protocol Directorate.
Over the next three days, the UAE team will participate in sector-focused site visits—dubbed “Rappor Tours”—designed to give investors a first-hand view of Uganda’s economic opportunities, ranging from modern farms and industrial plants to renewable energy and infrastructure projects.
“These tours will offer investors a tangible view of Uganda’s economic potential and our readiness to host world-class ventures,” Amb Kibedi said, highlighting the link between policy frameworks and practical investment opportunities.
The initiative aligns with Uganda’s Vision 2040 strategy to position the country as a competitive investment destination and regional trade hub.
Uganda–UAE economic relations have grown significantly over the past decade. Bilateral trade reached US$2.85 billion by September 2025, while UAE foreign direct investment in Uganda surged from $300 million in 2018 to $3.5 billion in 2024, according to Uganda’s Embassy in Abu Dhabi.
Amb Kibedi attributed this growth to robust diplomatic engagement, improved air connectivity, and increased business confidence.
The upcoming business forum will feature high-level dialogues, sector presentations, and government-to-government and business-to-business meetings, with a focus on trade facilitation, innovation partnerships, and investment incentives under Uganda’s ongoing economic reform agenda.
Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja is expected to deliver the keynote address, reaffirming Uganda’s commitment to enhancing investor confidence and promoting mutually beneficial trade relations.
“The Uganda–UAE partnership continues to evolve as a model of strategic investment and shared growth,” Kibedi said, noting that the forum is expected to spark new ventures and strengthen economic ties between the two nations.
