Africa-Press – Uganda. Uganda’s Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) sector is driving economic growth, youth employment, and digital transformation, with the government setting ambitious targets.
Speaking at the Uganda Tech Value Workshop, Dr. Amina Zawedde, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, emphasized the sector’s potential and highlighted key priorities to accelerate growth.
“We remain committed to achieving our target of 150,000 BPO jobs by 2030,” Dr. Zawedde stated.
To achieve this, the government is focusing on attracting investment, strengthening talent development, and expanding global market access.
The Business Matching Platform (link unavailable) is connecting Ugandan firms and professionals to hiring opportunities in Japan and beyond, supporting export-ready IT and BPO companies to scale into the UK and other global markets.
Dr. Zawedde stressed the importance of collaboration:
“Our goal is to support Ugandan companies to become globally competitive, creating jobs and driving economic growth.”
The Uganda Tech Value Workshop, organized by the UK Trade Partnerships Programme and the International Trade Centre (ITC), brought together key BPO stakeholders to align on a practical roadmap for growth.
