Uganda Signs Bilateral Air Services Agreements

Africa-Press – Uganda. Uganda has taken a significant step forward in expanding its international aviation partnerships, concluding a Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) with Argentina and signing a reviewed BASA with Qatar.

The agreements were finalized during the ICAO Air Services Negotiation (ICAN2025) event in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

“This milestone marks another step forward in expanding Uganda’s international aviation partnerships and creating opportunities for increased air connectivity, trade, and tourism between Africa and South America,” said Ms. Olive Birungi Lumonya, Deputy Director General of the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority.

The Ugandan delegation, comprising officials from the Ministry of Works and Transport and Uganda Airlines, is leveraging ICAN2025 to strengthen Uganda’s global aviation network and support the country’s strategic vision for air transport growth.

Lumonya says this move is expected to boost trade, tourism, and economic cooperation between Uganda and the partnering countries.
