Africa-Press – Uganda. Ramathan Ggoobi, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives (PSST), has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to resolving the challenges facing the Sino-Uganda Mbale Industrial Park.

During a visit to the park, Ggoobi, accompanied by senior ministry officials, emphasized the government’s focus on addressing critical issues such as flooding, unreliable power supply, and general infrastructure development.

“We are committed to supporting you fully to overcome the infrastructure challenges at the industrial park,” said Ggoobi, highlighting the role of industrialization as a key driver of economic growth.

He noted that industrialization creates forward and backward linkages that are essential for transforming society.

The delegation also explored strategies to enhance the park’s operations, including the integration of skilling centers, promotion of local raw materials, expansion of exports, and access to regional markets.

Paul Zhang, Chairman of Tian Tang Group, expressed appreciation for the government’s support, noting that the park currently employs 12,000 people and has diversified into sectors such as real estate and tourism.

The visit aimed to fast-track solutions to the park’s persistent challenges. Among the key priorities are the construction of a drainage channel to mitigate flooding, installation of a mobile power substation to ensure reliable electricity, and broader infrastructure upgrades to support business growth.
