Africa-Press – Uganda. Christians have been urged to remain firm in their faith as they walk with God, especially during this season of preparing to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
The call was made by Rev. Juliet Ssekamatte during her farewell service at St. Noah Sserwanga Church in Wampeewo Parish, Gayaza Archdeaconry, Namirembe Diocese.
Rev. Ssekamatte, who has served the parish for six years, was officially sent off by the congregation in an emotional ceremony marked by praise, prayers and gifts, including a car presented in appreciation of her service.
“As you prepare to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ, I encourage you to remain steadfast and continue walking faithfully with God,” Rev. Ssekamatte told the congregation.
She reflected on her journey in ministry, sharing the challenges, lessons and victories she experienced during her time at the parish.
The farewell service was emotional, with several congregants shedding tears as they delivered messages of gratitude. Members of the church repeatedly applauded Rev. Ssekamatte, praising her dedication, love and commitment to nurturing the spiritual growth of the faithful.
One of the church preachers, Jonathan Ssebidde, commended her for exemplary leadership and service.
“Rev. Ssekamatte has served this church with humility and commitment. We pray that God guides her wherever she goes next,” he said.
In a gesture of appreciation, the congregation presented Rev. Ssekamatte with a brand-new car that they had collectively purchased to thank her for her outstanding service and devotion to the parish.
The farewell marked the end of a six-year chapter of ministry at St. Noah Sserwanga Church, leaving many congregants hopeful that the values and faith nurtured under Rev. Ssekamatte’s leadership will continue to flourish.
