Africa-Press – Uganda. Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential flag bearer, Nathan Nandala Mafabi, continued his campaign trail with stops in Mubende and Kyegegwa districts.
Mafabi began his tour in Kyenda Town Council, Buwekula South Constituency, where he asked voters to trust him with their votes to become the next President of Uganda.
“My people, I am here to request your votes so that I can be your President because, out of the eight candidates in the race, I am the best candidate,” Mafabi said.
He highlighted key points from his manifesto, including plans to improve the livelihoods of local coffee farmers.
“I was informed that people here are coffee farmers, yet coffee prices are low. We want to ensure that you benefit from coffee, and we shall do the needful,” he added.
From Kyenda, Mafabi proceeded to Kibaati Cell in Mubende Municipality for his second stop. Addressing residents, he promised to restore term and age limits for the presidency, stating that a President should serve a maximum of two terms and not exceed 75 years of age.
“When I am elected , a president should only serve two terms and should not be above 75 years. Even the Bible talks about it—that people above that age should rest,” Mafabi said.
He also proposed poverty alleviation initiatives, including a plan to allocate shs100 million annually to every village for residents to borrow interest-free, as well as monthly financial support for elders aged 60 and above.
“We shall be giving you money without interest, and we shall also give elders aged 60 years and above monthly financial support until death,” Mafabi said.
Mafabi urged voters to turn up in large numbers on January 15, 2025, to vote for him and protect their votes.
“When you vote, do not go far away. Stay about 20 meters from the polling station,” he advised.
He also accused Electoral Commission Chairperson Simon Byabakama of attempting to rig elections.
“What Byabakama is saying—that you should leave the polling station—is meant to facilitate rigging,” Mafabi claimed.
On health matters, Mafabi promised that Health Centre IV facilities will be elevated to referral hospitals, referral hospitals upgraded to national hospitals, and all health facilities fully equipped with medicines and staff quarters for health workers.
“We shall ensure there is enough medicine and equipment in hospitals, and all health workers will be provided with staff quarters,” he said.
From Kibaati, Mafabi proceeded to Madudu Sub-county in Buwekula Constituency before heading to Kyegegwa District.
