Munyagwa Pledges to Prioritize Ugandans in Kyenjojo

Africa-Press – Uganda. The Common Man’s Party (CMP) presidential candidate, Mubarak Munyagwa, has taken his nationwide campaign to Kyenjojo District, pledging to prioritize the interests of ordinary Ugandans and protect indigenous citizens from what he described as excessive dominance by foreign investors.

Addressing a gathering of supporters, Munyagwa said his leadership would put Ugandans first by ensuring investment policies do not undermine local rights and livelihoods.

“Foreign investors should complement our economy, not control it. Ugandans must remain the primary beneficiaries of the resources in their own country,” Munyagwa said.

He emphasized that economic growth should be inclusive and community-centered, warning against development models that enrich a few while leaving the majority marginalized.

“Development that does not change the lives of ordinary people is meaningless. Our government will make sure that local communities directly benefit from national development,” he added.

Munyagwa also used the Kyenjojo rally to challenge narratives suggesting that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has already secured victory in the forthcoming elections. He cautioned voters against complacency and urged them to exercise their democratic right.

“Do not be deceived that the election is already decided. Power belongs to the people, and it is your vote that determines the future of this country,” he told supporters.

Looking ahead to the electoral arithmetic, Munyagwa revealed that opposition forces are strategizing to deny the incumbent the constitutionally required 51 percent majority, a move he said would create an opportunity for an opposition alliance to lead the country.

“If we deny him 51 percent, the opposition will unite and provide a new direction for Uganda,” he said.

Appealing directly to voters in the Tooro sub-region, Munyagwa urged them to reconsider their political allegiance, accusing the ruling establishment of long-standing betrayal and unfulfilled promises.

“The people of Tooro deserve better. You have trusted the ruling government for years, but the promises have not been honored. It is time for change,” he remarked.

Following the Kyenjojo engagement, the CMP candidate proceeded to Kabarole District to continue his campaign outreach as part of efforts to mobilize support across the country ahead of the general elections.
