Africa-Press – Uganda. The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has announced plans to unveil a pilot Commercial Strategy under the FIFA Women’s Football Development Programme.

This FIFA-backed initiative aims to elevate the commercial potential of women’s football in Uganda.

The programme will provide practical guidance on commercialisation and explore strategies with FUFA’s member associations and will be unveiled on Tuesday next week.

The upcoming strategy is designed to enhance sponsorship planning, strengthen marketing frameworks, and establish sustainable revenue models for both leagues and clubs.

A delegation of FIFA experts, along with staff from the regional office in Kigali, will attend the launch.

“This launch marks a significant step in building sustainable women’s football structures, investing in governance, capacity building and commercial frameworks,” said FUFA Director of Communications, Ahmed Hussein.

Participants will include representatives from government, the business community, current and prospective women’s football sponsors, clubs, media, as well as former and current players, and cultural institutions.

“FUFA will roll out a Commercial Strategy Pilot Programme to strengthen the commercial foundations of women’s football through structured sponsorship planning, marketing frameworks and sustainable revenue models for leagues and clubs,” Hussein added.

The initiative is expected to generate more opportunities for girls and women in football, in line with FIFA’s Women’s Football Strategy 2024–2027.

Over the years, FUFA has leveraged several FIFA programmes, helping Uganda emerge as a leading example of women’s football development on the continent.

Structured support from FIFA has contributed to the growth of domestic leagues and the success of Uganda’s national teams.
