Africa-Press – Uganda. By voting in all National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearers, Kamuli residents have heeded and honored the call of Kamuli Woman MP and 1st Deputy Prime Minister Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga to set aside internal differences and show loyalty to the party, according to NRM Kamuli District Chairperson Matthew Bazanya.

Speaking to the media this morning following the conclusion of nationwide elections, Bazanya dedicated Kamuli’s electoral sweep to Kadaga’s leadership, describing her as the driving force behind the mobilization of voters to focus on continuity, issues, and party unity rather than individual interests.

“All five MPs – Rebecca Kadaga (Woman MP), Mastula Namatovu (Kamuli Municipality), Matthew Bazanya (Bugabula South), John Teira (Bugabula North), and Martin Muzaale (Buzaaya) – are NRM. The 22 sub-county, division, and town council mayors are NRM, and 41 district councilors are NRM, with only one NUP member from Bugulumbya Sub-county,” Bazanya said.

He added that despite competition from opposition candidates in every position, voters overwhelmingly supported the NRM, responding to Kadaga’s “clarion call” for empathy, solidarity, and loyalty to the party.

Bazanya emphasized that the focus now is on harnessing the region’s resources and opportunities to deliver tangible services that will consolidate party gains and recover any lost ground.

“As the party chairperson, I come in peace and with renewed energy. It is time to evaluate and audit the NRM manifesto – from Prosperity for All to Steady Progress – and deliver on the promises to the people. With a full house and Mama Kadaga at the helm, we have no reason not to,” he said.

At the flag-off of the NRM campaign in Busoga, dubbed Tunhwerere ku Museveni ni NRM, Kadaga called for party discipline, loyalty, and commitment above self-interest. She urged the region to move past previous divisions and focus on reconciliation and development.

“I remain committed to the NRM. Let us put the past behind us, promote unity, and work towards development. We still have unfinished business with the party,” Kadaga said.

Kadaga also unveiled a new regional strategy aimed at poverty alleviation and economic development.

Key initiatives include the creation of industrial parks to tackle youth unemployment, operationalization of Bukungu Ferries to enhance trade with Teso and Lango, promotion of tourism, establishment of talent studios, and development of Kimaka International Airport.

Kamuli Municipality MP-elect Mastula Namatovu said the electoral win enables the district to work as a united team to design programs that drive economic growth and strengthen ongoing development projects.

“Mama Kadaga’s wish and passion to serve the party and the people have been realized. The challenge now is for the party to deliver results with the right team in place,” Mastula said.
